Description:

Western Building Systems were contracted by Dublin City Council with the ambitious task of building 22 Rapid Delivery Housing Units to help ease the emergency housing crisis that had seen families living in B&Bs and hotel rooms.

The family homes were designed to meet the needs of family units, providing stability and comfort for the families for duration of their stays. Each of the 3 bedroom homes was built to accommodate 5 people, and was built to a high specification and in accordance with all the relevant planning and building regulations.

Construction Process:

Western Building Systems were responsible for the Design and Build process. We worked quickly and efficiently with our design team to come up with a design that greatly reduced time taken working on site and enabled a large proportion of the works to take place concurrent to siteworks in the factory.

While siteworks were taking place specialist teams were working in our Coalisland factory to manufacture the wall panels and modular sections. Team were also working to prepare fully fitted kitchens and utility rooms, door sets, bedroom furniture and windows, for installation.

The units were then installed on-site by our specialist installation teams and work began finishing the homes.

This project met a number of challenges along the way with protestors and one of the wettest winters on record severely hampering work on site at various points throughout the build process.
