Tribute to Aidan

It is with profound sadness that we the directors inform all management, staff, subcontractors, and valued customers, of the sudden passing of our Furniture Production Manager Aidan Devlin.

Aidan passed away suddenly on Friday, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his wife Donna, his children, Arian, JJ and Cara and the extended family circle

Aiden worked 34 years of his 51-year life with Western from his role as apprentice joiner to Furniture Manager, a role he carried out in an exceptional manner in his modest nature. He was an important and vibrant member of our team.

Aidan was a highly skilled joiner whose work has spread across countless family homes, hospitals, and schools across the island of Ireland and throughout Britain. He worked each day with many of his family members and provided an essential service to the company along with his brothers Brian and Dominic, his nephew Kieran, and close department colleague and dear friend Aidan Kerr. He also worked closely with many suppliers and was highly respected by architects and homeowners who valued his input and greatly appreciated his finished work.

Aidan was a charismatic character with a welcoming and friendly nature and was highly regarded by all who knew and worked with him. A brother to Nora McCloskey, brother-in-law to Martin, and a much-loved uncle to company directors Declan and Melissa.

Aidan will forever be remembered at Western as an extremely popular figure and personality, who was always available to help, offer a friendly chat, or share a joke. He will be deeply missed by all his work colleagues including long term colleagues of the same period Michelle and Liam.

The passing of Aidan is a most serious loss for the family but also a great loss to Western.

We offer our deepest sympathies to family members, Dympna, Oliver, Celia, Ita, Sheila, and Kevin, and remember in our prayers his late brothers, Hugh, Mickey, sister Joan, and his parents John James and dear mother Ethna, who Aidan diligently cared for up to her passing nearly three years ago.

May he now rest in peace.

Part prayer to St Joseph:

‘By the work of your hands you supported your family and had the son of God as a fellow worker’.
