Western sign contract to build 22 houses for Dublin City Council

Western Building Systems has signed a contract with Dublin City Council that will see the firm build 22 modular homes at Poppintree, Ballymun.

The development, to be called Baile na Laochra (Town of the Heroes), will help to tackle the homelessness crisis in Dublin, a crisis that saw 677 families living in emergency accomodation in the city in October. The two-storey, three bedroom houses, are constructed to the highest standards and will fully comply with new Building Control Regulations.

The contract has been awarded following an Accelerated Restricted Procedure (ARP) which means that the tender, design and build process for the homes will be fast-tracked and the homes programmed to be ready for occupation before Christmas in recognition of the urgency of the family homelessness situation in the Dublin region.
